Today we reviewed what we've seen in EN1010 about essay structure but we generalised the format for our research paper.
We start with our topic - thesis statement where we include our main supports.
Then- We distribute our pages and give for each of them one of our main supports and we analyze it, then move to the next one give it some pages etc.
In the last page before the conclusion we have the refutation of the opposing claims on our subject.
The first thing we have to look into is our opposition, bear it in mind through our whole research paper and refute it in the last page before the conclusion.

26/09 Class
Today we talked about our progress up to now for our research paper.
Also we examined some research papers other people wrote.
Ideally a research paper should have
1 Title page
1 Outline page
Around 6 Body pages
Works Cited pages - mentioning resources directly used for the research paper.
They around around 8.
Bibliography - mentioning resources indirectly used and inspired us in our research paper.
Then all the material used follows in photocopied pages, only the material that was actually used not texts that gave us ideas.
Till next time. Plan going on the uptown library soon since we'll be regularly saying what we did for the research paper in class. I plan going on Tuesday since i got midterms etc but I'll order some books to be brought in downtown library for me to pick up in the meantime- you should try the same if you can't easily go in the uptown library.

24/09 Class
Today it was the 5 minute presentation day for a person we admire.
There were some very interesting persons introduced to us through each other's presentations.
We have to write till next time what is the thing we think we lack and what are our strong points in the presentations...
We came across something else too, the moral of the class was :
Be more aware of your surroundings, people around you, the world around you...
A side note- The debate club was quite interesting, I found it quite inspiring for today's presentation but I think if I was out there I would add some more points on "Why rules are made to be broken" which was their topic.
I mean, after all rules are created to serve a current purpose, when that purpose no longer needs to be surved, they have to be broken and it's not always about when it has to be broken but by whom and for what reason...

We'll discuss our topics in the next class...
Before that we are going in Agia Paraskevi tonight at 18:15 to see the meeting of the Debate class~

19/09 Class
Today we had some information on how to use the library resources.
From the computers of the library or the labs you can access http://ultranet/ for the main page.
Otherwise you can go in www.acg.edu and click on "Sign in" and click Sign-in to acgLIBLINE use your pin and log in the databases~
How to
----------
Find a Book in the Library:
1- Press "Catalogue" from the library's main page
2- Press "Main Catalogue"
3- Enter a keyword about the subject you are looking for (use the drop-down box to choose if it is a general keyword, author or title)
4- A list of books will appear, click one you are interested in.
5- Under the blue line "Copy/Holding Information" you see how many prints of the specific books are in the libraries. The Call Id locates the book in the shelves, ask for help from the librarian if needed.
Note: Deree College Library = Agia Paraskevi Library
You can limit your search results in Downtown Library in the page with the books by pressing "Limit by:" and choosing "Downtown Library".
-----------
Find a journal:
1. Press E-Resources
2. Press Journals A-Z
3. Enter the title of the subject you wish to find or the title of the journal and you'll get a list of them.
----------
Find an article:
1. Press E-Resources
2. Press "Online Indexes and Databases"
The ones we'll use mostly are the Academic Search Elite and SIRS Researcher from the list.
For Academic Search Elite, click the top button and then click on Academic Search Elite (kinda repeating itself).
Write in the "Find" box what you need to find and tick the "Full Text" box below so you can find a full article and not only author name and the title of the article.
For SIRS Researcher you click on the subject that interests you in the list and then choose the type of resource you need ("Newspapers" "Magazines" etc)
--------
That's all folks.
I didn't get the chance to let you know about this blog but I hope I will next time :p

17/09 Class
Today we discussed about our research papers in general.
Sharing some of my notes
>First Draft must be ready by 25th of November and 2 weeks later we'll have our final paper.
>It has to be 1500-2000 words long and have:
"Contains"
"Title page"
"Outline Page"
"Body Pages"
"Works Cited Page" (I hope I didn't spell this wrong)
"Bibliography Page"
"Photocopies section"
We'll get more info about each of them in due time but by then we should choose our topic.
Some topics I noted down are:
Gifted Children
Vegeterianism
Children's Fantasy Litterature (for/against)
Aggression & Environment (born aggressive or become aggressive?)
Does Pornography cause violence (I actually took a note on this one just because noone will actually have the courage to write a topic about it :P)
Should Legal Gambling (lottery etc) be banned?
Multiculturalism vs monoculturalism
Hypnosis - Successful treatment or not
Juveniles - death penalty or not
Euthanasea (I mispelled this one too didn't I?)
Don't forget, Wednesday we'll be again in the Library in Xenias building and in Friday afternoon we should meet in Agia Paraskevi... I got lucky my Business law class tutor that I had at 17:00-18:00 will be missing so I'll be able to join ya there ;)

Hello World!~
"Hello World" is the first thing that appeared in the screen of the world's first computer when the programmers finished working on it so I decided to use that for our blog as well.
To be honest I'm pretty shy in real life and since it seemed most people in our class are and since we are meant to work as a team I thing this webpage can help.
We can say what we discussed in class for people that missed it as well as ask for each other's oppinion for our research papers etc.
Just reply in this first message and I'll give you access in order to place posts etc as well!
It's fun 'n easy ;)
